I’m going to get a new digital camera soon. My old Olympus CAMEDIA is on its last legs as a AA powered camera. A friend at work, Bill Tani, recomended this site called dpreview. He’s right, it’s excellent.
I’m going to try and get a point-and-shoot or bridge camera. I need great photos, but I don’t need all the bells and whistles of an SLR. One friend got a Nikon Coolpix 8700 the others have the Canon EOS SLR cameras.
I’m excited to get a decent camera again, and take some great shots of the family!
I guess I don’t count as a friend because I use a Nikon D70 SLR. 🙂

Any new digital camera is going to outperform anything you want to check out this article on my opinions about a small camera purchase.
(For the record, I got Caitlin a Casio Exlim EX-Z750 and Mia (my brother’s wife) a Casio EX-S500. I think they are too small and too expensive for you. I think you may be very happy with a larger point and shoot from Konica-Minolta. Be sure to get one with vibration reduction/image stabilization built in.)
This model has no RAW support & no compact flash. Important to note if you want to shoot in RAW.
Barry, which model are you referring to?
