A new law of Software

In homage to, JWZ’s, Law of Software Envelopment:

“Every program attempts to expand until it can read mail. Those programs which cannot so expand are replaced by ones which can.”

Nelson’s Law of Modern Software:

“Any sufficiently popular program that has plug-ins or extensions (Web browser, IM, Email, etc) becomes an operating system within itself.. and a poorly written one at that.”
